What Students Say
Kevin Bechayda – Nanakuli High School Thank you Kapolei Foundation for rewarding me with a scholarship for my freshman year of college. This provided me with stability and support through the start of my college career. Now, I am continuing to chase my dreams and I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for me.
Renise La’a – Nanakuli High School I am the first in my family to attend college and will represent my family well. I would like to thank the Kapolei Foundation sponsors for the help that all of you gave me in my freshman year. It really helped me not only manage my money but also push me forward to be responsible with it.
Taase Toafi – Waianae High School I would like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to continue my education. Being given this scholarship is a blessing that I thought I would never get. Thank you for seeing something in me and awarding me this scholarship, it is a chance for a better life for me and my family. Update: My experience at college was difficult during the first year. It was hard getting used to the changes. As a young adult from Hawaii, leaving the island and family and going thousands of miles away was difficult and I remember crying the first week. But, as the year went on I met wonderful people and made new friends, some from Hawaii and others from different sides of the earth. I once met a girl from Zimbabwe and another from Saudi Arabia. So, I see college as an experience that tests your limits but also broadens it. Thank you Kapolei Foundation, you gave me hope of achieving my dreams to become a nurse.
